This early grounding in unit processes and operations serves as the foundation to the understanding of the capabilities and limitations of stormwater treatment systems. Dr. Minton began his involvement in stormwater treatment in 1985, and has been teaching short courses since 1995. He became an independent consultant in 1982. He is a member of the Editorial Board of Stormwater magazine to which he has contributed many technical articles. Dr. Minton received the 2007 Outstanding Contribution Award of the Washington Chapter of the American Water Resources Association.
Dr. Minton continues to provide consulting services in the general areas of urban nonpoint pollution control and treatment: preparation of design manuals, development of treatment system design criteria, test protocols, field and laboratory research, role of treatment systems in compliance by MS4 communities, and consultation to engineers involved with development design.
